Contemporary Surrealism – Art Project 2023
Surrealism in contemporary arts has kept pace with the nature of reality and the extent of its distance from it, its superiority over it, and its inspiration, which has diversified the experiences of each according to his affiliation and aesthetic position from his reality. Surrealism did not stop at merely following it as a doctrine in art, but rather it was a strange outlet that was able to keep pace with psychology and the philosophy of existence and the extent of employing and treating reality. Through artistic positions, its aesthetic path was what enabled it to emerge from the characteristic of unconscious madness and exaggerated imagination to a civilizational and human harmony in expressing the ugliness of reality versus the imaginary excess in it existentially and psychologically. It is as if the contemporary experience wants to reveal the subjectivity of human suffering that has surpassed the nightmares of darkness and color, so it was filled with the metaphysics of visual research and exaggerated in expressing it, especially since the clashes did not stop and varied in their meanings, intellectual positions, and different sensitivities. Perhaps following some Arab experiences and comparing them with other Western experiences raises the problem of the extent to which each experience is compatible with its specificities and its aesthetic employment for self-expression of belonging to reality and the artistic positions presented in each experience. White is not absence it is presence. In this monochrome symphony, the pyramids emerge not as relics of the past but as ethereal forms, draped in light and shadow. Here, white dominates, not to conceal but to reveal the vastness of time, the stillness of the desert, and the infinite whispers of eternity.
